Old Friends and Drinking Buddies

Davaro enlightened the party at Breakfast about the whereabouts of one of the brothers mentioned in Vivian’s Journal. According to his information the brother by the name of Gorden resides within the Crescent Moon Casino. The party spent the morning shopping for magical items and receiving tattoos. In the evening the group entered the casino in search of Gorden.

However in their search they were approached by a stewardess of the casino and lead to a private room. In entered Emmit previous owner of Davaro’s sword attempted to reclaim it but his brother and him were quickly defeated and forced to lead the party to Gorden.

At a back room another fight broke out with a pair of Glasp guards, Emmit and his brother. This fight was bloodier but eventually the party prevailed. The remaining guards allowed the party to pass into Gorden’s quarters unattested.

Here they meet a somewhat intoxicated Gorden how was more than happy to share information and give a tour of his quarters. The party learned from him that the Brewer’s real name was Lord Brightshore. He also disclosed the location of his brother’s setup.

A Hunt Concluded

While Davaro carried Crixess’ unconscious body away from the warehouse and back to the Broken Stool, Morn and Anon were being arrested and escorted to the prison. At the prison the two were questioned separately as to what exactly happened and what their reasoning was for being there. It was revealed they were there searching for a bounty and that they work for the House of the Rising Sun.

While half the party is being questioned the other half dresses their wounds and are called upon by Lilith Greywater. That night Davaro and Crixxes return to the House of the Rising Sun and explain their actions to Lilith after she questions the events that had occurred. She then requests that they stay there for the night and the next day until she returns from the prison the following morning.

Lilith goes to the prison and listens to the charges being brought against the two rash hunters and agrees to pay the amount of 1000 gold each for their release; due to them being members of the House of the Rising Sun. Morn and Anon are then released and they all return to the Guild House.

Upon returning, the entire party is gathered in Lilith’s office and again they explain further. Lilith warns them against further recklessness and then seeks to help the group find another lead to go on. At this point Morn is reminded of a magical bird figure that they had discovered at the Broken Stool and shows it to Lilith. She identifies it as a Silver Sparrow that has a number of commands.

Through the use of this Silver Sparrow the party is led to a building that appears to house a merchant of many different animals. Davaro enters the merchant’s establishment alone to gather intelligence and pretends to be the messenger of a very wealthy master. Eventually he leaves after promising that his master will return and goes to the others and reports what he has seen.

The group then goes into the establishment together and proceeds to question the merchant. They proceed to go upstairs and a fight ensues between the party, the sparrow, and another man with the sparrow. Morn manages to get the magic manacles onto the unknown man before the fight could truly get going and then the group refocuses its attention on the sparrow. Eventually the party is able to get the sparrow to surrender, but not before the unknown man is killed by Anon; and the Sparrow knocks out Morn.

The group then questions the Sparrow and finds a number of magical items and currency in her possession and confiscate them for themselves. They then return to the Guild House with the Sparrow and the body of the unknown man to collect the bounties from Lilith. Lilith then aides in identifying the magic items that had been collected and it is discovered that one of them holds a person captive and releases him. Morn and Anon payback their debt to the Guild House and that night the party is fully initiated into the Guild House after an honorary ceremony.

Let's start a Sparrow Hunt

The party ended their day after eating supper with Lexona Fisher,Tessaca Fisher, and Grant. Unfortunately, they were unable to give the party any information on the Sparrow but perhaps in a day or two Lilith Greywater would have some gathered some information.

The following morning the party assembled and decided to return to the Broken Stool. Upon returning they found the Broken Stool closed and locked. The party decided to enter through the secret tunnel they had found the previous day to get into the Broken Stool.

Upon entering Sal’s bedroom the party noticed that room had been completely torn apart and a small section of floor by the bed had been torn up. Moving into the workshop area it was clear to see that anything that may have had value had been removed.

Ascending up into the tavern area of the Broken Stool the it was discovered that all the bodies had been removed and that there had been some attempts to remove the blood stains from the floor boards.

The party decided to open the tavern in an attempt to lure in a Strangler member who may have more information. However as Davaro walked out of the entrance he noticed what appeared to be a started sentry they quickly began walk down the street. The party gave chased and caught up with the sentry.

The party returned to the Broken Stool to question the sentry by the name of Micheal. After some blows and the threat of a dagger the sentry revealed to the party that he was he to observe the Broken Stool and report back to a man named Philip in a warehouse up the street.

The party tied up Micheal and threw him down the stairs to set off the trap they new was at the bottom. A cloud of poison surrounded Micheal and after it cleared they saw that he was apparently still breathing.

The party they walked down the street to survey the warehouse they were told of. After some surveillance it was decided that Davaro would wait on the roof until nightfall before attempted to sneak into the second level while the remaining party would make a distraction.

The rest of the group walked around town and eventually went back to the Broken Stool to wait for nightfall. Upon returning they open the hatch for stairs to check on Michael and found a pile loose rope. The party quickly returned back the warehouse to warn Davaro that Michael had escaped. However the party decided to stick to their plan.

As darkness fell the plan was but into motion. Davaro gained entrance to the second level and discovered a bunk room that could sleep 12 people. At the same time Morn Surefoot began his distraction by entering the first level of the warehouse and thus instantiating combat.

The battle was bloody and loud as a series of thunderwaves were used to swing the tides back in the party’s favor. Eventually as members fell unconscious a pair of guards entered the fray. In the end the battle was won but half of the party was apprehended by the city guard and questioned while the other half returned to the Broken Stool to recover.

Only time will reveal what the morning will bring.

An interesting start

The group formed after apprehending a enchanter by the name Edward Tuck. Upon his apprehension the group was then forced to decide if they wanted to turn him in through the House of the Rising Sun or to potential become Seekers in the Arcanic Order.

The group choose to accompany Lexona Fisher and Tessaca Fisher to the House of the Rising Sun with Edward. Upon arriving they saw parts of the vast guild complex and were introduced to the guild master Lilith Greywater. Lilith paid the group half of the bounty for Edward and offered them a chance to join the House of the Rising Sun.

Anon then interrogated Edward and found that he had a partner by the name of Sal which was confirmed by a letter found on Edward’s person. Edward also shared with the party that Sal was based out of a Strangler’s hideout called the Broken Stool Tavern.

The group asked for some directions to some shops and proceeded to buy some items they needed. Afterwords the group returned to Edward’s hideout and searched it for any valuables. They then decided to stay the night but were interrupted in the early morning by a pair of Stranglers sent to check on the hideout.

After the Stranglers were dealt with the party decided to travel to the Broken Stool Tavern to scout the establishment. Here, they found a tavern filled with Strangler members along with a blonde hair woman later identified as “The Sparrow”. Combat ensued and The Sparrow narrowly escaped from the party. However, Crixess Tigersoul lost a foot in the engagement and the party decided to leave the establishment and regroup. While walking back they came upon Tessaca, Lexona, and a fighter named Grant who were searching for the party.

Tessaca and Lexona expected the party to return to the guild hall in the evening of the previous day and decided to leave for the Broken Stool when the party still hadn’t made an appearance by morning. The now enlarged party returned to the Broken Stool and investigated Sal’s alchemist workshop. Correspondence was found between Sal and person titled “The Brewer” along with the mention of someone by the name of Vivian. Notes were also found of Sal’s that discussed his work on coming up with a recipe for making potions of Giant Strength.

The group then followed a secret tunnel and followed the trail of The Sparrow and Sal until it was lost in the city street.

The party now finds themselves back at the House of the Rising Sun decided on their next plan of action.

A blog for your campaign

Wondering how to get started? Here are a few tips:

1. Invite your players

Invite them with either their email address or their Obsidian Portal username.

2. Edit your home page

Make a few changes to the home page and give people an idea of what your campaign is about. That will let people know you’re serious and not just playing with the system.

3. Choose a theme

If you want to set a specific mood for your campaign, we have several backgrounds to choose from. Accentuate it by creating a top banner image.

4. Create some NPCs

Characters form the core of every campaign, so take a few minutes to list out the major NPCs in your campaign.

A quick tip: The “+” icon in the top right of every section is how to add a new item, whether it’s a new character or adventure log post, or anything else.

5. Write your first Adventure Log post

The adventure log is where you list the sessions and adventures your party has been on, but for now, we suggest doing a very light “story so far” post. Just give a brief overview of what the party has done up to this point. After each future session, create a new post detailing that night’s adventures.

One final tip: Don’t stress about making your Obsidian Portal campaign look perfect. Instead, just make it work for you and your group. If everyone is having fun, then you’re using Obsidian Portal exactly as it was designed, even if your adventure log isn’t always up to date or your characters don’t all have portrait pictures.
